Dear Band Parents, Students, Alumni, and Friends of the Warrior Band,
It’s time to kick off our Moonlight and Jazz campaign. This year marks the 10th year of what we like to call the classiest, most enjoyable school-sponsored event of the year! Moonlight and Jazz is an evening of fine dining, great music, and wine, held on the beautiful grounds of John Folse’s White Oak Plantation. Guests are fed a scrumptious meal prepared by the John Folse staff and they are entertained by the award-winning Warrior Jazz Ensemble. In recent years we have provided a unique experience for up to 270 guests. This year, we hope to break our record and hit 300 in its tenth year of inception.
Moonlight and Jazz is the only fund raiser for the Warrior Band program. We don’t sell pizza kits, cookie dough, chocolate, wrapping paper, etc. I’m sure many of you grudgingly had to do this in elementary and middle school. Funds generated from our event help run the program by providing money to purchase new instruments, maintain our inventory of instruments, and help defray ever increasing transportation costs to ball games, competitions, and our bi-annual Disney trip. While the Jazz Ensemble provides the entertainment for the event, know that this fund raiser supports the entire band.
Please mark your calendars for this year’s event (Sunday, April 10, from 5:30-7:30) and take a look at the attached flyer (tickets make GREAT Christmas gifts) and our sponsorship letter. We cannot rely solely on ticket sales to make this event a financial success. We need to defray some of our costs of this evening by procuring sponsorships from individuals and corporate donors. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I know that many of our alumni still subscribe to this blog. I would love to see several tables filled with band alumni at this year’s event!
By the way. Preferred seating goes to sponsors and those who can fill a table of ten. I recommend you get together with friends and others who will be attending and fill a table.
